Important Festive Season To-Do-List for Scheme Executives

There are five very important things Scheme Executives need to do this festive season according to Pearl Scheltema, CEO of Fitzanne Estates, a leading property management agency in Gauteng, and it might not be what you think.

“At Fitzanne Estates, we live between the beats,” says Scheltema. “While the rest of South Africa gears down towards the end of the year, the team of management agents at our property management agency remain sharp and vigilant on behalf of our clients, so they can relax, unwind and take it easy with their friends, family and loved ones, instead of focussing on Scheme Executive duties.”

Here are five things she suggests every hard-working Scheme Executive should put on their must-do list over the festive season:

Be a Tourist in Your Own Town

When last did you do the touristy things there are to do in your own region? This holiday, go see that monument, climb that mountain, take that hike, or stroll along that river. There’s a reason people come all the way to your neck of the woods to experience this special thing, so join in the fun!

Unplug and Reconnect with Nature

We spend so much time on our computers, phones, and devices during the year that we can forget how freeing it is to be without them. Take some time over the holiday to set all of that aside and be present in the moment.  Whether you take a stroll through your garden, sit on the stoep with a book or a magazine, or simply make a cup of tea and gaze out of the window is up to you. Just give your brain and body a break from the constant onslaught of pings, dings, and notifications.

Make Something From Scratch

Most of us have at least one or two recipe books gathering dust on our shelves. This festive season, challenge yourself to make something you’ve never made before. Bake a cake, cook some jam, do a fancy rolled lamb shoulder, or even just try a new salad dressing. We can get a little stuck in a rut sometimes, and proving to yourself that you can still learn a new thing is always rewarding.

Give Back

The world can be an unforgiving place, and spreading kindness is one of the best ways to bring more light into our collective existence. Pack a Santa’s Shoebox, make a donation to a charity, visit with the elderly at an old age home, buy some groceries for a vulnerable family, or offer to babysit a friend’s children so they can take a break. Most importantly, do this kindness quietly, knowing that it will one day be returned to you.

Establish a New Tradition

Many of the festive traditions we have were passed down by our parents, or grandparents. This holiday, we challenge you to start a brand-new one that is all your own. Perhaps you want to read a special Christmas eve book for the children, or knit each other wonky scarves as gifts. Or maybe you want to go out and plant an indigenous tree in a nearby park. Choose something that’s special to your family or group of friends and leave a little legacy as time passes.

Sound good? If you don’t have one already, it might be time to get yourself a dedicated property management agency to take care of the nitty-gritty of managing your sectional title scheme while you enjoy well-deserved time with your family – obligation-free quotes are available.
