How long have you been a real estate agent?

My real estate career started in 1997, so it’s been a wonderful 24 years.

Why did you become a real estate agent?

I had a passion for sales and business from a very young age. I had a business economics teacher in high school whom I sold weather coats for to earn pocket money.  Mr J .A du Plessis afforded me my first experience in sales.

What motives you?

I firmly believe that every every business transaction must have two winners. I believe in forming long term relationships when working with property investors and under the principal of creating a win-win situation.

What challenges have you faced and how did you overcome them?

Even though the property market has a lot to offer at present, it is a challenge to have the right property for the right price to match your client’s needs. As a real estate agent, it’s important to canvass daily to build our portfolio.

What is the best part of being a real estate agent?

The biggest reward and satisfaction in being a real estate agent is seeing how my clients win, grow and gain from investing in real estate. My client’s happiness is my sole purpose in my work. Through this focus I earn my own success.  Financial gain must never be the first objective for a real estate agent.

What skills or personality traits should you have to make you successful?

“If someone is passionate about something you will prosper.” – T D Jakes.

What does your typical day look like?

My mornings are spent on admin and providing feedback and checking emails. I’m usually in the field in the afternoons, meeting with prospective sellers and then taking my buyers for viewings in the late afternoon and early evenings.

What advice can you give aspiring real estate agents?

Be the best in what you do, have a sincere passion for what you do, and service your client with integrity.
Being in sales means always assessing your clients’ specific needs.
